Rooftop Pedestal Hydrants

Where a water source is needed on the roof for equipment maintenance and other purposes, the MAPA MPH-24FP and D series are the original hydrants designed to penetrate the roof and provide a 24" tall freeze proof hose station that meets ASSE 1057 Sanitary Yard Hydrant Standards.


The "drain down design" of the MPH-24FP:24/9 hydrant operates on the venturi principle. When the hydrant is OFF, the stopper seals against the nozzle and stops flow. The water remaining in the riser drains back into the reservoir tank in the conditioned area, below the roofline. When the hydrant is ON, the flow through the nozzle creates a vacuum in the reservoir evacuating the water out through the hydrant.


The "D" Series assembly utilizes a full port ball valve with an auto-drain port that is located below freeze line at the base of the Hydrant. The "drain down design" of the MPH-24D:24/9 hydrant allows the water remaining in the stand pipe to discharge through the field provided piping to an open drain site located below the roofline.


An auto-drain type hose vacuum breaker is permanently attached to the discharge outlet located near the top of the pedestal.

  • Standard hydrant is 24" above the roof flange and 9" below the roof flange, may be changed to accommodate different roof thicknesses.
  • The Stainless-Steel Shroud or optional Deck Cap permits a positive, weather tight installation.
  • The provided quick disconnect allows a hose to be readily removed when not in use so as to insure proper evacuation of the reservoir during freezing conditions.
  • The Weather-Guard Dome handle provides operation of the valve and prevents rainwater from entering the shroud.
  • Supply connections are made inside the conditioned area below the roofline.
